Celebrating the power of Saudi women, and women around the world, today and every day.
In honor of International Women’s Day, we want to share a spotlight of our very own Wafa Alghamdi that was published in the Arab News this week.
“Our religion and culture gives women a special place. Women in our society are treated and considered as an asset to their households and families — and now as an asset to our country.”
The World Bank highlighted Saudi Arabia in their yearly report, showing a 10 point increase in terms of women’s empowerment from last year. This year, Saudi was placed in the top tier of the 190 ranked countries with a score of 80 out of 100. This score is accounted for from eight main categories: mobility, workplace, pay, entrepreneurship, pension, marriage, parenthood, and assets. The Kingdom received full marks for the first five of these.
Empowering women is one of the key objectives of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. This plan not only aims to recognize women for the determination and strength they have always been while ensuring there is space for them to become active leaders and innovators who contribute fully to the growth of the economy.
“Women’s economic empowerment is critical to achieving gender equality and strengthening sustainable development cooperation. It includes women’s ability to participate equally i
n existing markets, having a louder voice and more agency, and their meaningful involvement in economic decision-making at all levels.” – Arab News.
We’re celebrating Wafa Alghamdi and all of the strong women around the world today and every day.
